Where are the investigative journalists exposing and challenging patriarchy, gender discrimination and structural violence against women? Where is the feminist Intercept? We are at a crucial moment for both independent media and women’s rights. We need fearless, independent feminist media more than ever. This panel will present the work of 50.50, the section of the independent media platform openDemocracy.net that reports on gender, sexuality and social justice issues. We’ll discuss our ongoing investigative series tracking the backlash against sexual and reproductive rights. We’ll also compare the climate for investigative journalism on women’s rights in England, Northern Ireland, Italy and Romania.
