The combined forces of technology, new audience behaviour, economics and globalisation are redrawing the media landscape. Audiences are more fragmented than ever in terms of numbers, demographic groups, viewing, listening and reading habits. The internet and social networks have transformed the gathering and distribution of news, as well as empowering everyone to publish and to exert greater control over the content they receive. The panellists look at how public service media are adapting to these changes in order to maintain quality, uphold their traditional editorial values and to continue serving the needs of their audiences. It will be about the big ideas but also the practical skills we need as journalists and the real world problems we face.
