Shailesh Prakash is the General Manager and Vice President of Google News, where he leads product and engineering teams building the future of news for publishers and consumers. Shailesh joined Google in 2022 from the Washington Post where he was the Chief Product and Technology Officer, with responsibility for product, design, engineering and data analytics. At the Post he also headed the development of Arc XP, the fast-growing global content platform.
Shailesh began his career as a software engineer, with roles at Motorola, Sun Microsystems, Netscape and Microsoft. He holds a BS in Computer Science from IIT, Bombay, a MS in Computer Science from Clemson University, and an MBA from Georgia State University.
