Roberto Sommella is an economic journalist and currently the Director for external and institutional relations of the Italian Competition Authority (AGCM).
A graduate in Political Sciences with a final thesis on Schumpter, he is an expert in public finance and European policies and was head of the economic newsroom of the news agency ANSA for twelve years. As co-editor of the daily newspaper Milano Finanza he led a battle to cut the Italian public debt and followed the various phases of the 2008 financial crisis. He is the founder of La Nuova Europa, a non-profit association that aims at spreading the values of solidarity in the EU. He publishes his opinions in the Corriere della Sera, Il Messaggero, Milano Finanza and europaquotidiano.it .
Roberto Sommella is the author and promoter of the Antitrust campaign Conosci i tuoi diritti (Know your Rights), in co-operation with the European Commission and the Italian Ministry of Instruction. He has published a number of books including L’Euro è di tutti (2014) with a preface by Matteo Renzi, Sboom. Sappiamo ancora sostenere il cambiamento? (2015), Un nuovo lettore, un nuovo quotidiano (2014) and I Veleni di Op (1995).
