Philip Willan is a British journalist and author who has worked in Italy for more than 30 years, specializing in cold war parapolitics and intrigue. His latest book is The Vatican at War: From Blackfriars Bridge to Buenos Aires (2013), which examines the murder of the banker Roberto Calvi against the backdrop of the western world’s ideological struggle against communism. He contributed research to David Yallop’s bestselling book In God’s Name and to Charles Raw’s The Money Changers. His first book, Puppetmasters: The Political Use of Terrorism in Italy, was published in 1991. He writes from Rome for The Times, the Sunday Herald and on information technology for IDG News Service.
