Peter Snowdon

Peter Snowdon is a filmmaker and educator. A former print journalist, he holds a doctorate in visual arts from the University of Hasselt (Belgium), and teaches filmmaking in the visual anthropology programme at Leiden University (Holland).
His first feature-length film, The Uprising (2013), was a montage film based on YouTube videos from the Arab revolutions. Described by found footage guru Craig Baldwin as "a bold, epoch-defining leap forward in doc method", The Uprising won the Opus Bonum award for best world documentary on its début at the Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival, and has since screened at over 20 festivals on four continents, including Turin, Edinburgh and Bratislava. It had its North American premiere at the Museum of Modern Art, New York, as part of their 2014 Documentary Fortnight. More recently, he made Le Parti du Rêve de Logement (2016), an improvised fiction film about the Brussels housing crisis created in collaboration with the grassroots campaign ALARM, founded by a group of former asylum seekers.
His book about online video in the Arab revolutions, The Revolution Will Be Uploaded, will be published by Verso Books in late 2018.
