Laura Boldrini

Laura Boldrini is president of the Chamber of Deputies, the Lower House of the Italian Parliament. She was previously, from 1998 to 2013, an award-winning spokeswoman for the UNHCR. She dealt in particular with the flow of migrants and refugees in the Mediterranean. She undertook many humanitarian missions in countries in crisis, including Kosovo, Afghanistan, Iraq, Sudan, Angola, Rwanda and the Caucasus. She contributed to a variety of newspapers and wrote the Popoli in Fuga blog for the Italian daily La Repubblica. She is the author of Tutti indietro (2010).
