Kathryn Thier
School of Journalism University of Oregon

Kathryn Thier teaches journalism and public relations at the University of Oregon’s School of Journalism and Communication, where she also coordinates the Charles Snowden Program for Excellence in Journalism, a statewide journalism internship program open to all college students in Oregon. In 2015, she earned the UO School of Journalism and Communication Outstanding Teaching by an Adjunct Instructor award. Her research focuses on solutions journalism. As a staff writer for The Charlotte Observer, Thier earned first-place awards from the Society of Professional Journalists and the North Carolina Press Association. She also covered local news and high school sports at Newsday.
