Greg Munno

Newhouse School Syracuse University

Greg Munno is the incoming faculty director of The Stand, a community newspaper written for and by the residents of a diverse neighborhood in Syracuse, New York, known as the South Side. The Stand, through its founder Steve Davis and Director Ashley Kang, runs a variety of programs to engage South Side residents, and to introduce others to the traditionally under-covered and under-appreciated neighborhood. One of those projects, the South Side Photo Walk, is a social photography event where photographers get together to explore the neighborhood. It also makes for great content for The Stand itself! Munno, an assistant professor of Newspaper & Online Journalism at the Newhouse School of Syracuse University, currently supports The Stand by working with student editors who assist with Stand production. He has a doctorate from Newhouse in Mass Communications, an EMPA from the Maxwell School of Syracuse University, and has been working as a journalist in Syracuse since 1996.
