Ece Temelkuran is a Turkish author, journalist and political commentator who has worked for Cumhuriyet, Milliyet and CNN International. She has also contributed articles to international media such as The Guardian, Der Spiegel and Le Monde Diplomatique. She was dismissed from her job at the Turkish newspaper Milliyet in 2012 because of her reporting of a massacre which left dozens of Kurdish children dead near the Turkish-Iraqi border. Her most recent books are Turkey: the Insane and the Melancholy (2015), Women Who Blow on Knots (2017), Time of Mute Swans (2017), How to Lose a Country: the 7 steps from democracy to dictatorship (2019) and Together:10 Choices for a Better Now (2021).
