C.W. Anderson is a Professor of Media and Communication at the University of Leeds (UK) and a member of the advisory board of the Tow Center at Columbia University (USA). He has published academic articles and books on social theory and the media, the transformation of journalism in the digital age, and the cultural history of data journalism. He has written publicly for numerous outlets including The Atlantic, Nieman Journalism Lab, and is an editor of Public Seminar at the New School for Social Research. His current project is on what he calls the ‘shadow public’ of the early 21st century.
