Beatrice Covassi has been Director of the European Commission Representation in Italy since 2016. In her role she represents the EU Commission and its President Jean-Claude Juncker in Italy. From 2010 to 2014 she was a diplomat at the European Union Delegation in the United States in Washington DC, where she was responsible for the new digital economy portfolio and transatlantic cybersecurity. In 2008 she was an EU fellow at George Mason University (USA) where she gave a course on the impact of new digital media platforms. Since 2000 she has held various positions at the European Commission in Brussels and in Luxembourg with a focus on the digital single market.
