Andrea Wenzel
Temple University

Andrea Wenzel co-directs the Community Stories Lab initiative with media consultant Sam Ford (Tow Center/MIT/Western Kentucky University). Their “Community Storytellers” project is done in cooperation with the Ohio County Monitor. Andrea is an assistant professor of journalism at Temple University and a fellow with Columbia’s Tow Center for Digital Journalism. Her research focuses on initiatives attempting to bridge divides of race, class, and politics—including efforts to combine solutions journalism with community engagement—through case studies in LA, Chicago, rural/small town Kentucky, and urban/suburban Philadelphia. Prior to completing her PhD at USC Annenberg, she spent 15 years as a radio producer at WBEZ and WAMU, and a trainer and project manager for organizations such as BBC Media Action and Internews in Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Iraq, and Ghana.
