Alexa Koenig is executive director of UC Berkeley's Human Rights Center (winner of the 2015 MacArthur Award for Creative and Effective Institutions) and co-founder of the Human Rights Investigations Lab, which trains undergraduate and graduate students from across disciplines to use open source methods to support the work of journalists, activists and lawyers worldwide. Alexa is also co-editor of the book Digital Witness: Using Open Source Methods for Human Rights Investigations, Advocacy and Accountability (forthcoming from Oxford University Press in 2019) and co-author of Hiding in Plain Sight: The Pursuit of War Criminals from Nuremberg to the War on Terror (UC Press 2016).
