Alessandro Penso
freelance photojournalist
Alessandro Penso is a freelance photojournalist engaged in social issues such as immigration in the Mediterranean. He produced the truck-based traveling exhibition The european dream. Road to Brussels that from Greece has made stops in Italy, France, Switzerland and Belgium before arriving at the European Parliament, using photography as a means of communication and provocation. In 2015 this project was elected Photo story of the year by Time Magazine. Alessandro also won the 2014 World Press Photo award and received in the same year a grant from the Magnum Foundation Emergency Fund for the project on refugees and asylum seekers in Bulgaria. For the project on unaccompanied minors in Greece he won the Burn Magazine Emerging Photographer Fund and the Terry O'Neill Tag Award.
