Il viaggio di un laico anticlericale che cerca e riconosce le radici cristiane d'Europa nella regola di Benedetto, santo italiano, anzi appenninico, un uomo che dal mondo pastorale della sua terra trae la forza per rifondare un Occidente che sembra travolto dalle orde barbariche e dalla sua stessa decadenza. Un esempio che sarebbe utile imitare nell'Europa in bilico del nostro tempo.
