What is a land grab? What responsibilities do European countries have and what incentives cause, directly or indirectly, the landgrabbing? ActionAid is following two cases which represent a prime example of the landgrabbing "chain of responsibility". The first concerns the Italian company Tampieri Financial Group, which is building an agro-industrial project in Senegal, with an allegedly negative impact on local communities who are opposing its development. The second refers to the violations of human rights and the negative impact on food security and access to land that are occurring in association with the cultivation of sugar cane in Cambodia.
