The crisis of newspapers and the crisis of blogs. On the one hand, the difficulty of paper and digital integration and the problem of interpretation and integration of social media. On the other hand, the economic sustainability and the journalistic efficiency of independent blogs. A contrast that can be overcome by integrating mainstream media and independent blogs. This is the case of the Isola of Cassintegrati, which in November 2012 became a partner of the Italian weekly L’Espresso and the first Italian example of an independent blog that has become part of mainstream media. A discussion around this case and an evaluation of the tools which might permit other websites to repeat the experience.
