Sometimes narrative becomes a necessary vessel to guide the public through the complexity of the present with perspectives that are independent of the media and its agenda. This is the approach proposed in Scoop (Feltrinelli, 2017), the latest novel by Enrico Franceschini, London correspondent of the Italian daily La Repubblica. Through the character of Andrea Muratori, a first-time reporter catapulted by mistake into Central America in the midst of a civil war, Franceschini brings us into the heart of a profession, the war correspondent, and the clash with reality puts dreams, expectations and ideals to the test.
