Following the disappearance, torture and murder of Italian Cambridge University PhD student Giulio Regeni in Cairo in January 2016, the Italian weekly L'Espresso created the web platform RegeniLeaks run by journalists and hackers to collect confidential information about the case, and also more broadly about human rights violations in Egypt by the secret services. The session will consider the results of this initiative and draw the relevant conclusions.
