How African journalists are turning to technology to tell a story. This workshop will introduce participants to the challenges faced by journalists who work in repressive environments in Africa, and how enterprising journalists have resorted to the use of drones and satellite to serve accountability and transparency. The presenter will discuss the risks associated with reporting in repressive environments and why holding those in power accountable in Botswana is a dangerous task. The presenter will also discuss how official barriers to reporting have hindered quality reporting in Botswana, a country considered a model of African democracy.
