Euronews

Thomas Seymat is a digital journalist, educator and innovator with extensive experience leading projects focused on identifying, creating and implementing storytelling strategies and news products. He currently works as an Editorial Projects and Development Manager for Euronews' Business Development team where he brings his editorial expertise to strategic projects, including Euronews' growing affiliates network. Previously, as Euronews' first-ever VR editor, Thomas supervised the company's immersive journalism workflow he set up and launched in June 2016. This award-winning project received the backing of Google’s Digital News Innovation Fund and produced close to 200 VR experiences and 360° videos across the globe. In past roles, Thomas also oversaw Euronews’ live-blogs operations, advised management on audience strategy, contributed to Euronews' first-ever podcast series and reported, in French and English, on European and world news. Thomas has shared his experience and know-how through dozens of presentations, speeches and training in conferences and newsrooms throughout Europe and the US.

During the 2018-2019 academic year, Thomas was selected to join the Reynolds Journalism Institute at the Missouri School of Journalism as a residential fellow to conduct a research project on the audience of immersive content. He has taught several classes about digital journalism and innovation in the media at the MBA or graduate level and is a mentor for young international graduates of his alma mater. Thomas holds an M.A. in Journalism from Science Po Lyon and a joint Erasmus Mundus M.A. in Journalism from the University of Aarhus in Denmark and Hamburg in Germany.
